Food Bank Feb. 9, ‘08
This is only our second time working at the Food Bank, but we love it. We had a few first-timers and they worked like veterans.
The day we worked there we were putting together boxes for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program. The food goes to low-income pregnant and breastfeeding women and other new mothers. There were specific items put into each box and so we packed the 250 boxes assembly line style. Our Coram Deo-ites, like Shiloh and Michaela, felt good about helping those who need it. And the work wasn’t that hard.
There were other church groups there as well as a few other volunteers. We got a chance to rub shoulders with them and encourage one another. TJ got a chance to converse with a gentleman from the Catholic Singles group.
There were so many hands that we also finished out packing the food from the last Food Drive. The whole event took about an hour. Afterwards we talked about our experience and agreed we’d like to do it again soon.
